Kira J. Schettino
Kira J. Schettino joined ILS in March of 2023 as Assistant Counsel for Parent Representation after spending seven years as an assigned counsel panel attorney under NYS County Law 18-B in Kings County Family Court. Prior to becoming an assigned counsel panel attorney, Kira worked at New York Legal Assistance Group (“NYLAG”), primarily litigating matrimonial and family court matters for survivors of domestic violence and Nassau County Legal Aid, Family Court Bureau, where she represented indigent adults in abuse and neglect, custody and visitation, and family offense proceedings.
Raised in and relocated to upstate New York, Kira is committed to using her experience to improve the quality of public defense for clients across New York State by implementing change to support the unique needs of providers. She is especially invested in promoting training experiences for attorneys that will bolster their skill sets and energize practice in Family Court.
Kira graduated from Loyola College in Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 and received her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 2005.
