Julia Shaw
Julia Shaw is a Special Assistant for Mitigation at the ILS Statewide Appellate Support Center. Before joining ILS, she was Director of Client Program and Outreach at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Midtown Manhattan, supporting people experiencing homelessness. She worked for seven years at STEPS to End Family Violence in NYC and was a Director of the Criminalized Survivors Program, one of the only anti-domestic violence programs in the U.S. offering holistic support services to survivors of gender-based violence facing criminal charges. Julia’s professional experience includes positions with the NYC Anti-Violence Project, College and Community Fellowship, an internship with Center for Community Alternatives, and an Americorps VISTA year with Turning Point DV/SA Services in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Julia has a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, an M.A. in English from Brown University, and a B.A. from the University of Alabama.
